The Patient Journey: What to expect

Consultation & Counselling

An ultrasound will confirm the pregnancy and its gestational age. If she chooses to proceed, a counselling session will follow to discuss options and support informed decision-making.

48-Hour Waiting Period

After counselling, regardless of choosing surgical or medical abortion, there is a mandatory 48-hour waiting period for patients before they can go on with the procedure.

The Abortion Procedure

Surgical abortion is done under anaesthesia with prior fasting, while medical abortion involves taking two pills to induce a miscarriage.

Post Abortion Follow-Up

Follow-up appointments are to ensure that the abortion is complete, there are no complications following the procedure, and the patient is recovering properly.

How much does an abortion cost in Singapore?

Who can get an abortion in Singapore?

In general, Singaporeans, permanent residents (PR), and foreigners who have lived in Singapore for more than four months are eligible for abortion. Individuals under the age of 16 are required to attend pre-abortion counselling at the Health Promotion Board (HPB).

Will my parents or partner find out about my abortion?

Abortion procedures are confidential by law, and medical professionals are not allowed to disclose patients' information without their consent.

Is abortion surgery painful?

The procedure is performed under anaesthesia so it is painless as the patient will be asleep. During recovery, some discomfort or cramping may be experienced but pain medication will be provided.

Can't I just take an abortion pill? Wouldn't it be easier?

Medical abortion (abortion pill) is only given to women who are less than 7 weeks pregnant. The bleeding and cramping are heavy, and patients will need to return to the clinic for follow-up visits to make sure there are no complications. Hence it is not necessarily easier.

Will having an abortion affect my fertility in the future?

No, surgical abortions performed by a licensed medical professional are generally safe, predictable and unlikely to harm the patient's health and fertility in the long run.

Only 1 night on Tuesday 7PM to 8:30 PM. Closed on other nights.
My clinic is closed for medical consultations on:
  • Sunday & public holidays (whole day), and
  • Afternoons of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
It is open for inquiries, bookings, pregnancy tests and collection of medicines on afternoons of Tuesday & Thursday.
